Basket Landing: Music

Go Ye Winds

(Basket Landing)
2004-09-15
Sung by Basket Landing on My Old Mountain Home
I have served twenty years on the Marlin,
And they say she's a good ship and true,
And it's many a man who would give up the land,
Just to serve with her captain and crew.

I was twelve when I first sailed the ocean,
And I stayed twice as long as I planned,
Though I'm home when the gales are singing in the sails,
Now I long for my own native land.

CHORUS:
Go ye winds, blow, follow me no more,
It's now I'm yearning for my home,
I'll say fare thee well to the life I know so well,
And it's no never more will I roam.

Oh, I've spent my life on the ocean,
And I've taken fifty whales from the sea,
Still a man needs to stand on some good solid land,
And be home in his own country.

So no more will I stray from the harbor,
And the devil can take my harpoon,
When a whaler like me says to hell with the sea,
Then it's home not a moment too soon.
